Here is a product that might be better than plain fiberglass.

i am going to take a bunch of very dry live rock and build a custom rock display for my 14 gallon bio-cube. my question is as fallows. i have some fiberglass resin left over from an unrelated project, can i use fiberglass to bond the rocks to each other without worrying about leaching chemicals? the rocks will sit dry for a few months to a year before ever seeing water again, and will get a full cycle before adding anything to the tank. i was wondering because i cant find any info or or against it. thanks all!

that would be a good choice, but i have about a quart of fiberglass i have already bought and would like to use it up first.
i do appreciate the like though david, and i will keep it in mind!

You can just give me the extra resin and fiberglass for a sub box i am planning on making, thus eliminating your problem hahaha

although a good idea josh, i think ill give it the olde college try before i give the stuff away. a guy like me who used to restore cars for a living is reluctant to give away fiberglass. its amazing stuff

I've never seen fiberglass used with rock work before... Every rock wall I have ever seen was usually made with a foam of some sort.
From what I know about chemistry, I would say that you WILL have a leaching issue depending on which type of resin you use..
Poly = Time bomb for your tank
Epoxy = safe

I don't know if all fiberglass is the same but public aquariums routinely use it in their displays. http://www.seasafe.com/literature/Cu...0Solutions.pdf
