Wow Dick! That is really cool! It's a beautiful clam too!
In our aquaculture business we are receiving shipments on a weekly basis from several sources. I’m always looking for the unusual and unsuspected hitchhiker. I’ve shared them with you because I find the little things in life the most fascinating. Mother Nature keeps me in awe with this latest hitchhiker.
In a small order came a 7” Maxima clam. It was closed up tight but I could see it was a beauty. After acclimating the clam, I gently placed it in one of the raceways to get a better view of the coloration and pattern of the fleshy lobe. There, much to my surprise was Mother Natures handy work.
A one inch baby clam was imbedded into the shell of the large clam. UNBELIEVABLE!!!
Shot taken with my smart phone. I’ll get better pics later when the clams settle in.
