I've never heard of it... that doesn't mean much though. Think it might be an allergy? She could be allergic to Mandarins? By Red Mandarin, did you mean a psychedelic? I'm sorry for your cat.
I have a 3-year old cat who is my little baby, she's usually very lively, and for the last 4 days has refused to eat anything and has been in and out of the vet, due to fever. She's been very lethargic as well. I keep my cats in the basement at night, and the tanks are down there. I had a red mandarin in the 90 g frag tank who seems to be missing. The store where I purchased him said he was a jumper. It's possible he died and the CUC took care of him, but if he jumped out and my cat ate him, that could lead to her being badly poisoned, yes? The vet is stumped as to the cause, they've run all the blood work possible. Looking for ANYTHING anyone has ever experienced involving pets and jumped fish or any other instances of ingesting saltwater substances. Thanks in advance.... I'm praying that my little girl Lily doesn't die

I dont believe that the mandarin could have poisoned your cat unless the fish had some kind of bacteria, viral, or other type of microbal creature either infecting it or possibly inside its intenstinal tract. I have had a cat in the past eat all kinds of fish and never got sick in any way.
Doubt it was an allergy the cat would have showed some signs of allergy for example hives or edema, and there is a mandarin that they do call a red mandarin, it is alot more red thatn the green mandarin, pretty fish its on my list to get
On another note have you been fragging any paly or zoanthids lately? The palys are known to carry a very powerful posion, has made humans sick and even killed them.

We don't have a cat but I have heard of a lot of them eating a jumper and never have heard anyone's getting sick. I hope your cat gets well soon!

Mandarins are'nt poisonous. I had a dog that was acting like that his intestines was blocked. That might be where the Mandarin is??

The mandarin goby shouldn't have been an issue, but if you accidentally left a coral out like zoanthids this could have caused a problem. It has sadly happened to some dogs.
