Totally unrelated to saltwater but personal to me

My son has been diagnosed with Optic Nerve Drusen/Buried Dursen.

Does anyone in wonderful TR land have experience with this?

    Thank you in advance!

Gosh Rhonda, sorry to hear that. Never heard of it to be honest with you, but when I go back to work Monday, I'll ask a few of the Docs I work for and see if they can point me to some info and further reading.

    Rhonda,

Has he seen a neuro-ophthalmologist yet? I think this is what the optometrist thought Dom had a few years ago. She got him right into a pediatric neuro-ophthalmologist and, thank God, it turned out to be just a congenital anomaly that has no impact on his vision.

He is seeing a Neurologist and a highly recommended Ophthalmologist. We only have three Neuro-ophthalmologist in Dallas and if it continues to progress at its current rate the neuro-ophthalmologist will step in and do surgery. He currently has significant loss in the visual field on the left eye and some in the right eye but the center field is not affected yet. They have prescribed drops that may help slow the progression and they may not. This is the only treatment at the present time.
His MRI at his point not showing growths or masses in the brain causing any of the pressure. If in two weeks the headaches have not eased then a spinal tap will be preformed to ensure he is not also experiencing too much spinal fluid being delivered to the brain.

Thank you Carmie! The pharmacy finally got his rx in and it is Betoptic S which is a beta blocker for Glaucoma. It is experimental for Optic drusen - for some it may stop progression and for some in may do nothing.
