looks like some kind of Stomatella snail
I turned on the lights this morning and sitting on top of one of the turbos was this snail. The shell is about 1/4" long and it's foot is about 1/2". I tried to get some pics but they came out pretty crappy. You might be able to see the antenna and tube sticking out. I checked a bunch of ID sites and didn't find one similar. And for a snail it's pretty fast. Here's the pics I got.

I thought stomatella just from your description but I have never seen one with a striped shell nor a snorkel so now I'm thinking nassarius.

Emily saw me looking at the pictures and said it looks like one of those candy corn candies. So untill I figure it out it's a candy corn snail.
Sounds about right to me!

Wonder if it tastes like candy corn?
Someone on another forum said I should e-mail John Maloney a couple pics. I didnt expect him to get back to me on a Sunday but he did. He says it is called a pepermint snail, in a species called marginella, eats microfauna but generally safe. Thats the only time I've seen the snail....now wondering how many there are and if they are sucking the life out of my sand.
