Did it begin happening before you moved the tank or after?
Hi all...
I have a new problem in my tank. As of recently, my very large frogspawn has started getting bands that almost look like they are tiny rubber bands around the tenticles. I am not sure why this started happening. I thought at first it was because the anemone was stinging it (It's only on one side.) But now that I am looking in my tank last week one of the tan nubs fell off and was floating around the tank. Then today another one was on the bottom of my tank. Does anyone know what could be happening to my frogspawn???
I will post pics if no one knows. just have to find the camera again.
Thank you to all!
Karyn

yep. Could it be because my tank has low Calcium levels??? I have had low calcium for a long time. ever since i took over the tank 3 months ago.
Yes, that could be a reason and so could the nitrates.

Yep. Still working on the nitrates. I got some Chaeto and put it in my sump. I am hoping that will help. I will do another water change tomorrow. They have held steady at 20 lately. I will measure them again 24 hours after the water change tomorrow.
Calcium is still low. How often should I add liquid reef? I did it for the first time a couple days ago.
Is it a 2 part solution? ie one bottle of calcium and another of alkalinity?

Hey i was having a calcium problem too ,after months of trying to fix it,i finally got it stable again,i tryed the two part solution but didnt really work too good for me,i got the kent marine calcium and that works great,,also check magnesium level,my reason for not having proper calcium levels was salenity was too low and that affected everything.once salanity was adjusted i got all levels perfect,,just check all your levels again,i lost my hammer coral and sounds like we had similar problem
What is your alkalinity level? Also are there any neighboring corals that are aggressive LPS?

Depending on the size of the tank and the amount of and types of corals you have, you may be able to correct your issues with weekly water changes. I have a 90 gal tank with about 65 corals ranging from almost every end of the spectrum and I haven't needed to dose anything yet. I change out 15 gallons a week and I use Coralife salt. I keep my SG @ 1.026 and I feed very liberally. All of parameters tend to fall well within the good range... Mag usually climbs ridiculously high on it's own, and Nitrates spike up to about 5 towards the end of the week, but they are all in the good range except for Mag, that gets to about 1700. I may have to start dosing 2 part once I get my other sumps and fuges tied in, my total system volume will be over 150 gallons. I'll need to find a 2 part that does not include any magnesium.
Talk to Dick, or call the cultured reef he has a real good 2 part
