That is it. I would not treat the tank unless you have solved the source or it will just come back. The treatment is antibiotics and they will kill some desirable bacteria too.

i had a little rise in my nitrates im pretty sure thats what is causing it going to do a big water change this weekend. That should take care of it. Do you recommend any certain brand of red slime remover.

I'd get the problem under control, siphon the slime, and add flow where the it is developing and avoid adding antibiotics.

How is the slime battle going? I'm dealing with it myself...what a joy.
mostly gone a little on the sand bed thats about it. Its definately better cause it was covering everything 3 weeks ago. I sucked most of it and did a 30gal. water change and on the same day put a GFO Reactor and carbon reactor seems to have solved the problem. Guess we will have to wait and see

Sounds good. I would expect that the water change and GFO reactor have helped to reduce the nutrients that were feeding it.
