Hitchhikers are very diversified. You never know what is going to show up.

I was doing some cleaning in one of the aquaculture systems when this “thing” went squiggling around my hand. Never knowing what you can run into in SW, I jerked my hand out of the water and grabbed a net and caught it.

    It was a mysterious worm.

The thin black lines on it’s side are legs or swim aides. At first glance they looked like decorative lines, part of a design on the flanks of his body. In the second picture it is plainly clear, at the bottom, they are more like legs. Yet, he swims with a very rapid wiggly motion.

Here’s a shot with the flash.

Anyone have an idea as to what he is? I did a search on a large worm ID site with out any luck.

This LR i’m getting is the freshest possible. It never leaves the water, even through delivery to my place. So anything living on it makes it here pretty much unscathed. I have a couple of more surprises coming.

Looks like a type of Nemertea (ribbon worm).
