thank you carmie
holy cow batman, I'm about 3 years behind on posting, Iron E just reminded me that I was slacking big time LOL
I'll try to get some new pics up here, lots of changes since my last post, different skimmer a ReeFlo Orca 250, closed loop running Hammerhead pump and Ocean Motion 4 way, Vortech MP60 instead of all those ugly powerheads, 4 x Lumenbright pendants with Lumatek ballasts and Phoenix 14k 250w bulbs and 4 x 54w T5HO with ATI blue + ran that lighting system for almost 3 years and now changing over to LEDs and been working on an Arduino DIY controller.....
here's my monster skimmer
lights
more of the lights
and the dosing station for BRS 2 part and vodka
some of my filtration, got the skimmer tucked away in its own corner and out of my way those MR1 reactors from NextReef are awesome, I converted the one on the right into a kalk reactor but later added a K2 stirrer from Avast
and here's my closed loop
here's a little sneak peek of my still in process DIY controller
here it is with in the transition of replacing those power hungry halides with something a little easier on the wallet....these are the DM132e LEDs from reefradiance.com great lights for the price and I like the color better than the Phoenix halides
these are the latest pics of my tank,it's growing in nicely, and I have a blue star polyp epidemic going on in there too
that's all I got for now, I'll try to get more pics as things progress, we just bought a new home so my tank will all be coming down soon...I'll try to document the rebuild as best as I can though
Thanks for the update! You tank looks wonderful! Do you have any things you want to do different when you move it?

thank you CarmieJo, I'm hoping to have it in it's own room so I can better control the humidity, I have a few aiptasia and an outbreak of blue clove polyps that I want to rid my rock of, I really don't know what I'll do yet, I want to make it a lot more energy efficient, getting rid of the halides will be a big help, I have a ReeFlo Dart I want to use in place of the Little Giant return pump and have the Dart feed my reactors, skimmer, and whatever else I have connected to the system and get rid of all the smaller pumps in the sump....
I hope I can plan it out a lot better in the new house, I went at it without any clear direction when I first set it up here..I have a truck load of wasted PVC too LOL
http://www.talkingreef.com/forums/ad...tear-down.html Willie, I wanted to make sure you saw this. I thought it might be helpful.
Did you put your rocks on stands when you did the original setup? That's a change of like to do in my own tank.

holy cow, I got dizzy watching that video LOL I dread tearing mine down, seems every time I change tanks I end up loosing a fish or two...the only good part is that we are only moving 3 doors down from here and we are keeping this house too so I don't have to rush to move my tank, I don't know about having 2 electric bills each month though LOL
my rock is just piled on the bottom and stacked from there, I'd like to drill all the rock and make a PVC skeleton with the rock mounted to it, but I'm not sure what I'll do yet, I may try to drill a few pieces and see about how much work it will be, I do like the stand idea too, that may actually be easier, anything to get the rock off the bottom will allow the detritus to be removed easier and allow for better flow around the rock
