I am here at MACNA and loving it! Dick, Rhonda, Joe and Tal are also here. If anyone else is here let me know so we can meet. I have heard a couple of really good talks and the trade show is HUGE! I especially enjoyed Richard Ross' talk about cephlapods and the discussion about marketing captive propagated livestock. I will post some pictures tonight.

The resort is beautiful!
I'm excited about SeaSmart. I told Bill from ReefKeepers in Clayton that I would be happy to pay more for sustainably collected fish!
How about captive bred mandarins from ORA that are eating pelleted food! Way too many are starved to death every year and there is no reason for anyone to sell wild caught now IMO.

It was a great and I am totally in love with the captive bred mandarins!! I have every intention of seeking out the captive bred species being offered. The Papua New Guinea project is by far my favorite part other than meeting with up with Carmie, Dick, JRC, Tal and the countless others I met.
I forgot my camera so we will have to rely on Carmie and Dick to post pics!!
Here are a few more pictures.

LOL Carmie.
Normally, I take a ton of pictures at MACNA. This year it was different. I took two cameras, the D90 and the Olympus Stylus. The Nikon never left the room and the Stylus I carried in my pocket all the time. So why no pictures? Several reasons. First and foremost, I have tons of pictures from past MACNAs I never look at. they just clog my hard drive. Second, I had a friend come to MACNA, Rhonda (saltaddict). Rhonda and I have corresponded extensively through TR PMs, e-mail, texting, and phone conversations. We exchanged family photos and even gifts but we hadn’t met. So when she signed up for MACNA, I was excited to meet my friend from TX. There are stories I could tell about our meeting and time together but you guys don’t want to read all that so I’ll just post a couple of pics that I managed to get. Rhonda DID NOT WANT HER PICTURE TAKEN AT ALL. Not sure why, camera shy? I guess. Here’s proof...
Several times during the weekend event I saw that hand come up to avert my attempt at getting a good picture. Hmmmm!
Then Carmie got into the act. What was I to do but stoop to begging.
Seeing a grown man beg worked. The hot tub felt really good after two days walking the vendor area and the banquet.

The Friday night reception is a time for eats, drinks and to meet old and new friends. They surprised us with some entertainment, a jukebox MC and a drum/dance troop from Disney. I didn’t get very good pics at the reception. Where was that Nikon D90??? In my room! But a couple turned out...
They were quite entertaining drumming, dancing, even doing jumps and flips on those spring leg extensions. Cool surprise.
I had the privilege of escorting this lovely, elegant women...
my friend, Rhonda (saltaddict), the whole weekend. What a treat meeting her!

Pics are not my friends as I am always making goofy faces in them. Most of the time I am talking while they are being taken then it shows in the result. Besides, my hair was sticking up!!
Ok, here is my favorite picture from MACNA.
I needed to talk to Laura of Ice Cap and while we were there I asked her to snap a couple of pics of Rhonda and me with my new logo T-shirts. This of the girl in the above post that said, "Pics are not my friends as I am always making goofy faces in them”. I don’t know what the rest of you think but I think she’s really cute, even pretty, no goofy face, just a beautiful smile.

P.S. the last time I was on your site those shirts were not there...are they now?
Ooops, too late. that picture is on my desktop and the wife has seen it. She approves of my antics. I had these shirts made up for MACNA. I’ll get them on the web in a day or two.

I haven't signed up yet as I am putting it off to irritate the crap out of Dick but I am going!!! LOL
Great updates everyone! I am planning on attending MACNA 2011. By planning now I am sure I can go. This looks like a great event and is sure to be very educational.

Laugh my BUTT off. A little inside joke. I am not going to get irritated as long as you show up at MACNA 2011. Now if we get there and you don’t show up, that’s grounds for irritation. I love this girl but she does turn my crank now and then.

LOL, Rhonda you are bad!
Jason, I am looking forward to meeting you next year!
Here is a picture of my nano with the Marineland Reef Capable LED light that was a door prize at the Saturday night banquet. Dick was sitting in the winning chair but he generously gave me the light.
As soon as I have a little more time I will post a review.

Carmie,
Do you have a pic with your other lighting on the tank? I would like to see a side by side or an above and below...
Dick,
You should not have told me that as I may have to come under an assumed name and wear a wig. HMMMM, one has to wonder if you would recognize me without the "hair standing straight up"????
You can expect me at MACNA next year for sure. It will be nice to finally meet all of you in person.
Bobby
lol awesome, I managed to escape being in any pictures the whole weekend!!!
Was definately an excellent time, great to meet everyone for sure! Basically the whole trip for me was a 3 day excercise in liver destruction and reef geeking!
