    mysterybox purchase

OK, so I paid $250 for an assorted box of stuff, definatly a mystery box. No shipping because I picked it up. Worth the money if you like this stuff, sadly its not what I would have picked for myself. I got caught up in the moment There are a couple of things I could use an ID on. Anyway, here is what it included
duncan, about 12 heads, I like this
acan 15 plus heads, not bad
sps of some sort. ID please, not bad
some sort of brain? this one is cool. ID please
clam (ok I guess) and maybe a trach. a lot of skeleton exposed ID please
a plate (very boring, would not have bought for myself) and an average blasto about 6 heads

    not pictured, various zoanthids
The deal really WAS good, but not really at all what I would have chosen, live and learn!!

On the bright side, the corals all look healthy. I love the coral in the 4th pic.

its pretty awsome. its actually green and beige along the ridges. Looked a bit like the one in the link you sent me. IS it a brain of some sort do you think? I added up all of the approx/ retail of the corals and even at my lowball estimation, I paid half of what is was worth. concerned about the one in the pic with the clam, its a brain? Lots of sketeton showing, but Im feeding it (and it sure is taking it). I dont do SPS, any ideas about that one?

The other site is calling it a Lobophyllia. Not sure about your SPS. Feed the one with the clam every other day or every day then give it a chance to digest it for a day or two. You don’t want kill it with kindness.

Yep, it's a lobo. The 'SPS' looks more like a gorgonian to me.

Silver Muricea Gorgonian It looks most like this, thanx.

The brain with the bad tissue damage, pictured with the clam, do you think its a lobo too or not?

it doesn't look like it to me. Definitely a brain, but I'm not sure what kind. Care should be the same though. Dick is right about the feeding. I've seen brains come back from much worse.

Here's one i picked up at a LFS for $10 because it was wasting away there.

    A month later.

you may be right, I found this
Cynarina lacrymalis. color and skeleton are VERY similar. I will of course research now how to bring it back, That skeleton is so sharp and jagged its no wonder its in trouble. If that was in fact its problem. Anyone familiar?

I knew someone would would think I bought something from Ralph, but the title fit perfectly! Yes, I beliece fox/meat/cynaria. Thanx scubabosh, I dipped it and its favorite meal seems to be mysis and scallops! Here it is after a week. I see a couple of areas that are 'mucousing', I believe it was pulled out of the tank while inflated and tore (not by me, but I could have made the same mistake). first pic is now, second was after lights out last night (after scallops!) its coming along!

Congrats, Laura. It is coming along nicely. People need to realize that LPS corals need to be fed.

I really havent had anything to feed in awhile, used to make my 'stinky stuff' as my son called it, and put it in the mini cube trays and just pop one out. Now that I have quite a few SPS and 2 that need TLC, I'll make it again! Carmie, we discussed dipping that pagoda, I did, and while I had the bucket out it occurred to me to do THIS coral, thanx!

I go diving pretty often on the channel island off California and last week I got some fresh squid. So I put 3 squid, 2 scoops of cyclopeeze, 5 cubes of mini mysis, 1 cube of coral food and some cod liver oil all in a blender and made some home made food. I use to think there was a lot of activity when I just feed mini mysis. holy cow my tank comes to life when I feed them that mix. its like I poured a rockstar energy drink in the tank. everyone goes crazy lol.
