Clownfish will not host with BTA

I just recently bought two percula clownfish and neither one of them has tried to host with my BTA.
I was wondering if there was anything I could do to help out the situation? or do I have the wrong type of anemone for a percula clownfish? If so, what would be a good one for them to host in? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No a BTA is what percs host in. It just takes time. Sometimes the clowns will not even host the anemone they will end up hosting something totally different. In my tank I have two ocellaris clowns and a BTA but they choose to host my open brain coral. Are you sure you have percula clowns? Are they wild or tank raised?

In the wild clowns always host anemones. But there is never any guarantee that clowns in an aquarium will ever host anything. Since neither needs the other I wouldn't worry about it.

No I am not sure they are either ocalaris or percula. They are orange and white with a black outline to their fins. They look so much alike sometimes it is hard to distinguish between the two. They are tanked raised and I know that tank raised seem to more difficulty hosting with anemones than wild caught do. I know that neither one needs the other, but the relationship is cool to witness on a daily basis. Maybe I should just be patient I have just had them in the main tank for a couple of days. So what type of anemones do ocalaris and perculas host with?

From what it sounds like they may be ocellaris clowns but its hard to tell without a pic. Just give them time they may host it they may not just depends. The anemone you have is the one they should host. Another anemone they host is a carpet anemone but they are really aggressive and need huge tanks since they grow so big.

The only way to distinguish between the two types for sure is to count the dorsal rays. Since they both have similar requirements the exact species is not critical. You can try to squirt thawed mysis or some other food they like at the anemone and see if the fish will chase it into the anemone. The food won't hurt the BTA, that is all I ever feed mine.

it took my clowns almost 5 months to host my bubble tip, They seemed to have more interested in my green hammer coral. They did finally warm up to the GBTA, Best of Luck
