    Pregnant shrimp?

When I fed the tank this morning my pepermint shrimp came out to say hi, just like normal. But there is one major difference....a large olive green sack of something in it. I dont know what their eggs look like so I'm not sure if its sick or pregnant. I only have one shrimp so I am assuming if its eggs they wont be fertalized. Or can they fertalize themselves? Will eggs pollute the tank or just be a harmless tasty snack for everyone else. I have been trying to get a good pic of it but the darn thing wont hold still. I bet I have 100 pics of rock with a red blur on it. Also it molted last night, does the molting process have anything to do with the egg cycle?

Not sure of a connection between molting and egg laying but they are definitely eggs. It’s more likely they are infertile rather than fertile. But either way, she will release them and they will become food for something else.

I agree with Dick sounds like eggs.

There is no elevator to success in marine tanks. You have to take the stairs.

Well this morning she looks normal again. Dont see anything that looks like eggs anywhere. They probably get gobbled up as fast as she releases them. Any idea about how often she will produce eggs?

i guess they normally breed right after molting. the molted one being soft as to accept a mate. not sure about selfing, lol. if you had 2 peppermints they would alternate being pregnant, one soft one hard, and they are hermaphrodite. i dont know the length of cycle offhand.
