    Toes in the water....

Hello everyone...it has been a long time, I have some catching up to do! I am considering returning to the hobby and of course, Talking Reef was my first stop. My daughter is in Future Farmers of America, and we are considering setting up a new system in order for her to use it as an Aqua Culture project for the next 3.5 years (at least thats what I am telling the wife)! Actually, the reef was something that every member of the family enjoyed, so we all kind of miss it, even the wife.

Starting over will give us the opportunity to apply all of the things we learned the first time. Can anyone tell me some if there have been any major changes in the hobby over the past two years such as lighting, pumps or principals?

Working on the plan, I will probably start posting plans to my old tank journal...or maybe I will start a new one...

    Can't wait...

Hey, Duane Welcome back to the hobbie and TR.

I can not think of anything that has changed in the past two years except that LED lighting is getting popular.

DUANE! Gee, it is good to see you! An aquaculture project sounds neat. OSU (yeah, I remember you are a Notre Dame fan) had a great aquaculture program so you, errr I mean she, has a great resource available. I'm actually not sure how much is in Columbus but the Southern Center is south of Chillicothe. I think that one of the biggest things that has changed is that the list of fish and corals that have been spawned and reared grows month by month.

While you guys were still kicking the dirt & playing with power compacts, we skipped over it & jumped on the T5 HO & VHO bandwagon. Admittedly we have asia right above us, so anything developed trickles down pretty quickly.

Wow! Welcome back! :-) I can't wait to follow along. I miss your old tank. Probably one of the hardest things to do is to keep reminding yourself that it's "your daughter's project" and then of course that opens up the door to "get your own little set up." Lol Glad you're back!!!
