    Fish Ideas

    Hello everyone,

I'm feeling the itch to add a new fish to my aquarium. I have a 54 Gal corner tank with fish, inverts, and soft corals. The fish I currently have are as follows:

    2 clowns
    3 chromis
    1 bangaii cardinal
    1 green mandarin
    1 flame angel

What would be a good new addition? I'm thinking a yellow assessor or a couple gobies (watchman or clown, or firefish).

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

    Matt

Someone else might chime in too, but given your current setup I think you are light on the substrate dwellers (except for the mandarin). An interesting addition would be a shrimp goby (like your watchman idea) plus a partner shrimp. I have two of these pairs (different species of gobies) in a 55gal and they are sure fun to watch. No conflicts between the shrimp (which are both Randall's pistols) so far.
Elos System 70, Elos sump with DSB and live rock, Elos Skimmer NS500, Giesemann Infiniti 1 x 250 plus 4 x T5s, change water twice a week, few supplements.

If your mandarin, like most, does not eat prepared food I would not put anything in there that would compete with it for pods.

if you have corals on your sand bed avoid the pistol shrimp, they will move and bury those corals. Also if your system has been running long I would stir parts of your sand bed before water changes for a few weeks(just sections of the tank at a time) otherwise the shrimp will dig it all up at once.

a group of fire fish is fun, a pair of cleaner gobies that will eat prepared food, or perhaps a jawfish...the blue spots are amazing

Thanks for all the replies! I went for a paid of purple firefish. I am a big fan and no one seems to bother them. I also got a tiny hi-fin goby, and luckily it found a cave in the front of my tank!
