GREAT NEPTUNE IT HAS ARRIVED!!! my new skimmer has arrived via snail mail. i couldnt find the camera so you have no pictures right now. sorry!!! first off, its been running for 24 hours now and i must say im impressed so far. i have gotten a half cup of skimmate which is a lot seems how it is 17 gallons of water.

    1. the skimmer is very heavily built. i am not afraid im going to break any part of this thing. in fact when i opened the box the collection cup chased me and hit the hard wood floor with no damage.
    2. the Aquatic life mini skimmer 115 is designed for applications up to 30 gallons, so i believe it will be just fine in my 14 bio-cube with the 3 gallon fuge. i put it in my 1st chamber in the fuge and have collected 1/2 cup of wet skimmate.
    3. the adjustment knob is a little hard to get to as it is a round knob almost against the collection cup. this is fine though because it is designed to be compact. im thinking of cutting a small slot into the knob so i can get a flat blade screwdriver in it.
    4. this skimmer was shipped almost fully assembled! i pulled it out of the box, pulled off the bubblewrap, put the collection cup on, and put it in the tank. plugged it in and got skimmate within seconds!!!
    5. it comes with 2 ways to mount, first it has suction cups to mount it to the inside of the tank, or it has hooks to hook it on the rim of the tank.
    6. the housing is two piece so it comes apart for easy cleaning, no more bottle brushes to clean the tube.
    7. dimensions are 3" x 3 1/4" x 10 1/2" and requires only 3 3/4" of it to be above water line, so it fits most anywhere.

and at $47.99 plus shipping it is a very good deal for those of us with nanos.

At this point I don't have system up and running so I am doing research while I await its arrival.

While I am hoping to get by without a skimmer it is something I want to plan for if needed.

Originally I had leaned toward the Tunze 9002 protein skimmer though after reading your review I am liking the AquaticLife Internal Mini Skimmer 115.

Update us as time goes by and thanks for writing the review.

skimmer is working VERY well. if you have a nano, buy this one. it will produce simmate so dry you have to scrape it out of the cup, or so wet it is just tinted water. worth every penny of the fifty bucks.
