right you are ... there should be some fishing line to attach to the sliding door that you release when the fish enters.
Anyone ever use this product before? I have a flashback basslet I wish to catch. I bought the trap today. It did not come with any directions. However, it appears to be a manually closing trap versus one which confuses the fish and lessens its chance of escape?
Am I correct in that i have to vigilantly watch until the fish I want to catch enters the trap and then I have to try to get the trap door to slide closed via the string attachment? If so, what a pain in the !&%.
Please advise

Thanks for the confirmation. Although I remain disappointed.. I cannot see how this will be very effective, unless I have countless hours to stand vigilant. Ugh

you might be surprised ... we caught a flame angel in a 315g tank with the same setup. just feed into the trap and let nature take its course.

I used a soda bottle, cut the top off and inverted the top into the bottom. The fishy swam in but couldn't get out. It worked out well.

Ah yes, Pictichromis diadema, arguably one of the most pugnacious little buggers in the ocean. Ounce for ounce a terror indeed. NEWBIES, leave this little fish at the LFS. I’ve seen them terrorize much bigger fish even in a tank like Keith’s with plenty of LR. There are others in the genus just as bad or worse. Beautiful but nasty!
