    Tang advice

Is it normal for a just introduced tang to chase other fish around until it gets settled in? It is the worst when the algae clip is in the water, is this just food aggression? Might the fish store have not fed it enough?

My main question is, will it stop when the tang gets settled in? Thanks.

It is a lined bristletooth tang, it is chasing my lawnmower blenny, and barred gobies, there are also blue green chromis, but he mostly leaves them alone. The fish he is chasing have eaten nari where he could see them. The tang has been in the tank for 3 days.

I would expect him to calm down eventually. None of those fish are any real threat to it, and none resemble another tang, so he's likely trying to establish territory and dominance.

threaten it!! every time you see it acting out just show it this picture:

(long story dealing with the fact that my tanks shall never hold tangs...)

Seriously though, give it a few days to establish the status quo and it should settle in.

he he nope, it's a long funny tang story.... A long while ago we picked up a tang for our display and within seconds of being released from acclimation he dove straight into my anemone....

We made a vow that our tanks would remain tang free... in fact we pretty much stated "no swimming fish" If it doesnt hang out or hover like a goby, blenny, pipe, or clown... chances are you wont see it in our tanks. Now of course I'm Tang sitting for a friend while he shifts his tanks (wow funny how a couple weeks turns into 6 months).... he knows our policy so every so often I photoshop up a pic and send some hate mail!

    uh oh...

JRC, you crossed that proverbial line, in Fl. its is legal to posses a tang but you can't smoke them no matter how it makes you feel.
