Ok, So no one from the site has responded to any my posts that I have done as if I was blacklisted but I need some advice. I think my clownfish have bred. There is a section of rock about an inch...
They are on the sand, glass, corals, buttons, algae clump.... Many on one of my Torches and match the torch's color perfectly. They look like a little blob until you touch them and they scurry away....
I have several pic's but I think I have coral larvae in a left alone farm tank. Yes, left alone, 2 clowns, tons of frags being farmed for quite some time that are doing very well and no water changes...
What are your observed life spans for:
Red Leg Hermits
Blue Leg Hermits
Emerald Crabs
Cleaner Shrimp
Nasarius Snails
Turbo Snails
Brittle Stars
This is the company I got my lights from http://shop.aquatraders.com/T5-High-Output-Aquarium-Light-s/9.htm I replaced two of the stock bulbs with Giesmann AquaBlue and PureActinic lights. more detail...
First thing is you need to buy an RODI unit and start making water yourself (ebay link above). You need to get a test kit for all the basics (...
careful the sizes. What angel you talking about? May get tight in there....
the first critters are a clean up crew. Snails, hermits, brittle star. Watch ammonias again to make sure they do alright. Do you have any ideas of what fish? You will be limited with a 20g and want...
Sorry, I think I got a couple of threads crossed. Someone else had a post with an algae take over of the tank that had corals in it. So I read all the other posts you have and think I have caught up....
Yikes. You need to back up and start from the beginning. Saltwater tanks are nice and easy to maintain if you take the time to do it right.
Also, what are you using to test the salinity? I recommend a refractometer. Much easier than the hydrometers and less likely to be wrong....
my 55 gallon took 4 weeks to cycle... how long has your tank been running altogether?

Not too bad for a starter RODI. How are you making your water or...
The growth will be what I watch. I have a feeling that we will keep the yellow and pass along the blue within a year. My wife was really wanting them and give them a try. I will not be "not feeding"...
Well, fish came out to play when I fed them at lunch. I did not see the cleaner shrimp I bought yesterday and from what I can tell, do not see any indication of it molting. So I am going to move the...
I have a rather large black brittle star. I would guess tip to tip about 18 to 24 inches with a center larger than a silver dollar round. I am pretty sure it eats fish as I got a cleaner shrimp...
first in the tank along with a coral beauty and yellow tang. All relatively small but roughly the same size (lengthwise). They are all hiding out together with no issues right now.... The blue though...
Ok, so I am guessing the tangs I bought are very young, say 3 to 5 inches long. The I found the pacific blue laying on the backside of a rock SLEEPING. Freaked me out this morning. I have come home...
Well that is good. So I will leave my price at $35 and allow for them to "bring my price down". Make them feel better about it. But it was funny to see the same size corals in Sandy's for the same...
Well, now, that sucks. So I guess the question is where I can get buyers....
Ok, so some of you might shot me so before you say anything understand that if I notice any issue, I will take them back. I do understand that there is a hotly contested debate, mostly hot by those...
as always, my pics never seem as good as life. The color is always much better in person.... I have seen some of these that are dull, but these really pop. And under the LED's for moon light these...
Ok, long title but I cut and paste from a search. Anyway, I have about 15 of these I will be selling and trying to figure out the price. I found that PetSolutions sells them delivered for $60 so I am...
Agree with Rostr02. You will be wasting time and money. As long as the water is moving around in the tank then that is all that is needed. No stagnant water. But as the chemical levels rise and go...
Well, I just wish that after he blew them up he completed the job and returned the swamp to nature. FEMA does it all the time so why not this time.... That is my only beef with the FEMA response....
WOW... the illegal aliens pay taxes to fill Obama's secret stash so she can get a welfare check and not work.... I would guess that she also believes that Bush was personally responsible for not...
Dottybacks, psuedochromis are supposed to eat the little ones... Oh, and never touch them. Let me tell you, the pain can be horrible. I was cleaning off some caulerpa infested rock and got hit by one...

welcome to TR. I setup a 20 G nano a couple of years ago. It took 3+ weeks to cycle. It was gruesome to learn patience. Just set up a new 55 Gallon. It took 4+ weeks to cycle. Get a test kit and...

So, I frag'd the green horn coral. About 20 new frags with this one. Now to wait a couple months and find some method of sales....
Well, I have moved quite a few items down to the big tank because of the nano light failure and the delay in getting the replacement. Several just were not holding up. But they are now recovering...
Well, I may be stepping up moving corals.... While working on the 20 gallon nano I knocked the light fixture into the water. Yep, it was on. Thankfully I did not get shocked but shortly after I set...
Ok, so as I get ready to start adding things to the tank, I am curious about what fish you would put in the tank. Here are things I am planning on including:
Pin cushion urchin (later once algae...
Yippie! The tank has now completed its cycle and I can start adding critters. Well, actually I have already added some critters moved from the nano but will need many more as the tank gets going. Now...
Well, got home and now ammonia's are down to .25 so they are finally going down. I also noticed that the hermit crab I put in the tank before leaving is doing well and as a matter of fact all the...
Thanks Carmie. Like I said, things were complicated. I will miss the few and far between times when things were good and more specifically that he did not truly have the time to change before he...
Well, life has been a bit rough and complicated. My father passed away on July 23rd while we were heading to Florida. We were just north of Nashville so we redirected to Dallas. Complicated history,...
I would agree with Kyrmary. I would look at or call companies that produce septic helper products to see if they would know. They specialize in improving septic performance so they should know what...
Alternative suggestion. If you have little children it may be a sweet pea they did not want to eat. If that is the case, they will start showing up all over the house.... (ok, yep, bubble algae....
what are your phosphate levels?
tell the fish that straws are for drinking with and not to blow bubbles in the tank! LOL
Didn't notice the closed bottom tube. So that is there way to deal with bubbles, but looks like it will create dead spots underneith. Oh well, I like the design that Todd did on the sump I had built.
A few questions. Did you remove the sand you had in there first or just bury it with the new white argo? Will you be staying FOWLR? How long were your rocks out of the water during the conversion and...
So, just looking for questions of experience with 55 gallon tanks with DSB LR. How much time did it take to cycle the tank?
Dual purpose, yep, I was wondering about that. Maybe the bottle is just a solution of shimp guts with some bacteria in it but the main purpose is that what won't live in saltwater becomes nutrients...

Current picture.... Sitting by the tank this morning deciding on what I want for breakfast, how soon I am going to start my office work, and when it will be dry enough outside to mow the...
Well, the tank is now clear and the cycle has started. Ammonia's are up, no nitrites or nitrates yet. Since half the rock was sitting outside and had dead culpera on it, I put in one slug from my...
So a question on cycling. What experience do you all have with a product called "Microbe-lift Special Blend". It is designed to kick start a cycle from what I can tell, a form of seeding I would...
Thanks Ray. Finished off the water level in the sump and got the system moving. After 30 minutes checked the salinity levels and they are right on the mark. Only downside is I have determined I do...
What a crazy night. So I got everything finally and start the build. First had to clean out the wall in the breakfast area where the tank is going. Then move the stand up from the basement. Doors...
