Wow, cool project!

I'm still hanging around!
Walrus? Don't leave me hanging!
Walrus, are you there?
Walrus! I am here! I AM HERE! I miss you! A couple of us check in every once in a while.
Send me an email carmalee at gmail dot com or look me up on Facebook Carmalee Gier Scarpitti.
Hi FW, it's always great to hear from you!
Merry Christmas!
V! Good to see you. I thought they had you locked up in a fishing vessel!
Did you explode?
(Totally unrelated but I'm in Texas on vacation.)
Haha, I wrote Happy Independence Day last night and must have not hit send. Here is what I did. :)

I'm up! FW send me an email some time, I'd love to catch up. Carmalee at gmail
Walrus!!!! How are you?
By the way, just since I noticed I said it was -5 the last time I posted in this thread I guess I ought to say it was in the low 90's today in NC. I'm going to join FW in...
I'm looking forward to it!
Haha, I am still here! I've had a little excitement the last couple weeks. I got hit by a car while walking. I was even crossing the road legally, that is in the crosswalk and with the walk sign on....
My favorite corals are the Euphyllias like torch and frogspawn! And here for your reading pleasure is an article about them. Aquarium Corals: Corals of the Genus Euphyllia — Advanced Aquarist |...
It's a blistering -5 in NE Ohio right now.
Glad you got him eating! Any new pix?
Me too! I'm currently up in OH, where it's going sub-zero tonight, with my mom in the hospital. I'd rather be in S Florida!
Send him to my house, I am battling algae. Seriously though, have you tried nori sheets for him?
It's good to see you back!
Here is a good discussion on calcium, alkalinity and the balancing act that keeps our tanks looking good!
Balancing Calcium and Alkalinity in Reef Aquariums
Pretty interesting!
Congratulations! Wishing you two blessings and happiness. One of the best pieces of advice we were ever given is that you do the ACTIONS of love even when you don't feel the emotion of love. Emotions...
So, did you try this?
Happy Fourth to you Bob!
The tank looks great! Love the sailfin!!
I think the aluminum would corrode in saltwater. But maybe you could chill another container of fresh water and submerge it in the tank.
Walrus! :missyou: I've missed seeing you!!!
That's good to hear!
LOL! May have to borrow a baby!
That it's even weirder.
I wonder if it is a bad batch? I've used Coral Pro for a long time and always had good results with it.
I have that in my tank from time to time. I think it is grape caulerpa. I've never had any issues with it getting out of hand.
Too funny!
Your salt should have all the elements you need. I make my saltwater up in a Brute and keep it for quite a while. The problem with the trace elements is that you can't test for many of them so you...
They are cute until a big one nips you and draws blood!
I would use RO/DI water instead of tap water. City water sources contain chloramines and often have higher levels of elements and chemicals than are good for our fish.
:birthday:
Green and purple stuff = coralline algae. Talk to Dick about the acrylic tanks, he carries them too.
David, I'm sorry to hear that you are having health problems. :(
Great shots of the corals Dick! I really like the Psammocora.
Nick, it is looking good! Finger montipora = Montipora digitata (digitata as in finger AKA digit)
Hi Elazar! It's good to see you with an exciting new project. Now, as far as the budget goes, that all depends. :tongue2: Glass or Acrylic, new or used, name brand or knock off, etc, etc, etc!

The heat makes it precipitate out. Here is an article about it. What is that Precipitate in My Reef Aquarium? by Randy Holmes-Farley - Reefkeeping.com
Nice candy cane! The other one looks like a digitata to me.
Josh, does it appear to be hard? It kind of looks like lime build up to me.
I had a great report! I now have >20/40 vision in the eye they operated on which means I can officially drive without glasses! They are doing the 2nd eye next Friday!!
I like the spray bar idea. Anytime you have more water movement it is good! And, depending on how you position it you will be able to keep debris off the bottom.
If you don't have your rocks on...
Thanks Nick. I have my post op visit with the doctor tomorrow. Everything seems OK to me but it will be nice to have him confirm that.
