whats wrong with my seastars???

In the past 3 days my sandstar and a red starfish have both "gotten sick".

The sandstar is basically falling apart, it looks like the someone has rubbed the meat of his bones around certain parts of his arms. Its only a about 1/4 of his total body, buts it looks really bad.

The red starfish has gotten dark red spots all over him.

Sorry about not having any pics. if anyone has any ideas, please help. Im new to the whole saltwater tank thing. Thanks

to TR.

Sorry about your starfishes.

Is your red star a red fromia? If so, they are very hard to keep and usually starve is most reef tanks. The same goes with the blue linkia.

Tell us more about your tank and how long it's been setup.

also (a little late)

It should also be noted that starfish, in general, are very particular about water quality and very sensitive to high nitrates. They first become sluggish, and then will litterally begin dissolving if the nitrates are too high.
