The Cooling Fan DIY

Cooling fans are great for controlling the heat in your tank. Whether it be a larger tank or a smaller tank, computer fans can either help keep the temperature down single handedly or compliment other cooling measures such as a chiller.

This is great. I love this DIY stuff. One question however, can one powercord run more than one fan at full speed? Or would to fans plugged in together just run at half speed each?

Seahorsedreams will become famous soon enough
You can put more than one on the power supply I use in the article... actually 2 with the power supply in the article. They have to be wired in parallel. When I get back to the US I'll have to do one for ya.

The fans pictured in the article require 0.08 amps (round up to 0.1) the power supply has 200 mA output (equals 0.2 amps). So two fans can be placed on this supply... make sense? I'm sure there are other ways to figure this out but this is the equation I've always used.

Yes that does make sense. I imagine one can find 12v DC power supplies with higher amperage? I will have to check around but thank you, that puts me on the right track now.
