I have a question regarding the black sun coral I purchased from you. Its been in the tank a couple of weeks and it hasn't seemed to polyp out to much. I placed then nest to my orange sun coral that is doing well. What is the proper location for this coral? should ot be plased in the shade as the orange sun coral?
Kevin, this coral should do fine next to your sun coral, but you could try moving it to the opposite side of the tank so the corals are not competing for the same food source. Are you checking for extension at night or during the day?

I was checking the polyp extension during the day but the lights are going off in about a half hour and I will check later tonight.
Definately check tonight, when they were in my tank they showed polyp extension at night. You may be able to coax them out, if the do not come out within an hour, with a little bit of target feeding.

This is not a-typical for this kind of coral. They are opportunistic feeders who harvest planktons and such at night. SOME, but not all, will change their habits once acclimated to your system. When they 'realize' (if a coral can do that) that feeding time is during the photoperiod, they may change their schedule to fit their needs.
It's almost like bringing home a newborn baby...it takes some time for them to figure out the day/night thing
