Quarantine Podcast

I think a quarantine podcast would be super at this point, Rob. Especially for newbies to realize that they need to quarantine corals/fish before sticking right into the tanks. Lord knows I've made my mistakes with that as well and probably most people could benefit from properly quarantining....

Yup Yup. I second this request. Quarantining is a great topic, especially for nano owners (like myself) who think because their tanks are so small (or that their LFS is so rad) that not having a QT is permissable.

"THE Q SPOT" :!: bout time rob, thanks RB, was wondering how long till it made it to print.
much under-rated piece of equiptment the quarantine tanks are!

a suggestion if i may!!!!!
in addition to your R -movies
(R 4 Rob), using your tank & equip as the focus point, how bout a field trip with a few peoples setups in your area/club explaining components that diifer to yours.
a running series like this could last for ages.

They must put Adderall in the waters of Melbourne He's as energetic and witty as my 9 year old boy Shane, who is constantly buzzing about on adderall

Actually...it's a medication that my son takes for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Go figure, it is really a methamphetemine salt of sorts, but it doesn't make him "Speed". To the contrary, it helps him stay grounded and focused. Don't ask me how.... Maybe our Neuro Scientist Christi could tell us how!

And yes.. I and others truly enjoy the energy and aussie spirit you bring to our community.

well, i cant pretend to know as much as Christi, but my understanding is that those medication correct a chemical imbalance, so if you are ADHD (hyper), they will level you off and calm you down. if you are ADD (which are VERY layed back) they will speed you up.

i think they also speed up persons with normal chemical balance (at least those chemicals)

AD(H)D medications are commonly also given to narcaleptics to keep them alert and awake.

but im sure our geek christi will be able to correct all of my blunders..

Agreed... a nice couple of quote that I ran across:

"Those children who need the most support and attention, ask for it in the most unusual ways".

"Children need the most love and attention when they act the least deserving of it".

well....at least you called me "yours"! :-)

Okay....I'm not an ADHD expert, but here's what I know.

You would think that ADHD children wouldn't need a stimulant, after all they are hyperactive, so why would you what to stimulate them even more? Well, it's believed that although ADHD children are hyperactive, they often have slower brain waves in the prefrontral cortex, which is thought to be the result of a neurtransmitter imbalance. Because of this, they have a harder time focussing and concentrating. So, by giving them drugs, such as Ritalin and Adderall, which act as dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (meaning - the end effect is that there is more dopamine and norepinephrine available for longer periods of time), and voila! they are able to concentrate and focus again better...albeit through a stimulant.

Because Adderall is a amphetamine stimulant, people also misuse it to stay awake longer or to concentrate during college exams.

Does that make sense?

I love those sayings. I always try to think of that when Hannah's trying my patience or acting out. I've discovered that if I sometimes just take her in my arms and love her, sometimes the problems just vanish! :-)

Just bought Men's size 7 and 1/2 shoes for my first born. During the same trip, bought him deoderant and such. I'd pay for one of those "Terrible Two's Tantrums" again.

They grow too fast.. hold em while you can.
