Question Where do you get your phyto jars, Rob?

Rob or anyone else,

I really enjoyed the phytoculturing podcast. I am also setting upa kalk drip per your instructions. It has really helped to see a DIY video rather than trying to read and re-create.

The toughest thing so far is finding jars for the phyto!! Where did you get those rubbermaid jars you had in the video, Rob? I have looked at every local store, plus online retailers with no luck. I didn't think it would be this difficult to find jars?!?!?

Thanks

You can usually find them at wal-mart near the Tupperware containers and thermoses. I can't seem to find them online either. You can use anything you want just as long as you fallow the 50/50 rule and i would try and stick with round containers. Square containers can threw the flow off a little and might create dead spots while culturing.

Also Welcome to TR

When you produce a new culture you put 50% phyto and then 50% of your medium. Medium being R/O water thats 1.019 salinity and whichever formula you want to use.

you should go through the check out with some latex gloves, K-Y Jelly (mold release for a project), and about 4 of those jars, and the unrated verson of the Naked Mile (the latest American Pie movie).

couple of months ago I went thru the checkout at Lowe's with an axe, blue tarp, bungee cords, and shower cleaner... They actually took my name and phone number down before checking me out...

Or go to the janitorial supply place to get DowFlake and explain that you want it for your aquarium.

We live and work at a kennel, One time i needed to get lime for the dog poop and i went to lowes and i said to myself "well while I'm here i will get some fragging equipment". Long story short, never go to lowes with a bag of lime in one hand and asking someone if they sell bone saws. I got the strangest looks that day lol

Lime is calcium carbonate. It has lots of agricultural applications and is also used in odor control.
