Well i would just like to say thank you vary much for putting on this amazing show. I listen to it on my ipod at work but have now finished and cant wait for every thursday.
Well my question is about some stuff i have heard a little about but not enough to actuly do, and that is dosing suger or vodka as a way to up the bacteria. I would love to hear your thoughs on this as it kind of intreged me to hear that people are serving drinks to under aged fish.
Thank you very much.

Dave,
thanks for the feedback, regarding your question, i have never done thins, nor have i really research it as i have never had the need. i think its one of those things people try and seem to think it does something. i cant say it does or doesn't and i dont have a grip on the science behind it
so with that said i must refrain from commenting on this

I've heard of people doing the same, using simple table sugar. Like Rob, I've not tried this. Personally, I like my martini's dry..as in away from the tank..and in Dave

Welcome to our lil' slice of heaven on the web!

Neither have I tried it but here is an article by Borneman that touches on it.

There are a lot of "experimentalists" who make this claim or that and put forth a witch's brew of some magic ingredient(s) supposedly performing all kinds of magical events, getting phenomenal results. Without a scientific methods approach to testing, recording and publishing results, I wouldn't use the magic formula. In the case of the vodka elixir, I'm with David on this one with a twist, please. If, after a couple of these elixirs, I want to "feed" the bacteria in my tank to raise their numbers I'll, (well, I'll let you use your imagination as to how I'd feed my bacteria).

Thanks for the link Carmie!
