plumbing

I am not a very good DIY, so please excuse the simple stupid questions I may have. Do you measure from the sump to the top or your tank?

if you are talking about figureing out your total friction loss then you messure the plumbing from start to finish. from the pump to the end of the return line inside of your display tank. Is that what you are talking about?

Here is the thing. I watched what Rob did on the plumbing video, but I dont understand how he got to that point. He must have measured from where the water comes out of the pump to where the pipe will go into his tank. Is that right?

To a point, if you dont have any other fittings inside of the tank then you can stop there. however if you do have fittings inside of the tank to create bends or for whatever reason then you want to count them also.. so say you have total of 6 90 degree turns and one straight coupler then you want to calculate 6 90's and 1 coupler. Does that makes since?
