ITunes/Ipod problem

Hey all,

I'm hoping someone else has run into this problem and knows how to solve it.

My Ipod is FULL of talkingreef podcasts. I had two playlists at one time:

TalkingReefPodcasts
and
Talking ReefPodcasts

The TalkingReefPodcast playlist is working fine, I can add/delete with no problems and it comes off the Ipod with an increase in available space.

However,

The Talking ReefPodcasts playlist no longer shows up in ITunes when I manage my Ipod and it contains the majority of my TalkingReef podcasts. My Ipod is full and I cannot delete these podcasts! ARGGH!!!

Anyone know how to fix this? I can't believe Apple didn't include an option to delete files, or at least playlists!, manually from the Ipod.

Brian

yes you can delete stuff manually.
what it looks like is that one of them is an old feed, assuming you are subscribing to the actual feed, and not downloading them and putting them into playlists/smart playlists

the "Talking Reef" is the current name (adjusted it trying to fix something, this one should be the most current)

all that being said, im not sure i fully got the problem, when you look in the podcast section of iTunes you see one list of items, but when you look within the ipod stuff in itunes you see duplicates?

Rob,

I have subscribed to the feed in ITunes, but I manually copy the podcasts to my Ipod when I'm in Itunes.

My problem is, when I look on my Ipod I can still see the podcasts (I have all the early episodes on there from 1-20 something) and they are taking up space on the Ipod.

But when I go into my Ipod within ITunes, I cannot find the early episodes anywhere and only the newer podcasts are listed as being on the Ipod.

So they show up (and are playable) on the Ipod, but do not show up in ITunes so I can delete them.

Clear as mud?

Brian

hmm.. im honestly not sure.. i have itunes auto fill my iPod..
if its not too much hassle for you, the easiest way is to just "restore" your ipod and then refill it with the contest, this will empty everything off of it

Another way to fix this in the future is to turn on the auto-sync, sync, then turn off auto-sync.

I had a similar problem when the new podcasts after Ep 81 would not, no matter what setting I used, sync to my iPod. I finally got it to work by doing the above fix + setting it to "All" instead of "All Unheard".

I love the iPod and podcasts, but I sure do miss the drag-and-drop the files method of Windows-based players when it comes to stuff like this.

Thanks George for the additional tip. I hear you on the drag and drop. I still don't understand why apple won't let you manually delete when your Ipod is not connected to the computer. It can't be THAT hard to program.
