I'm not a member of Boston Reefer, I'm just starting to get interested in saltwater tanks. I've been doing fresh water for years. Reef keeping is the major leagues of aquarium keeping IMHO.
I found the podcast searching iTunes. I do the Catholic Rockers podcast, and was looking for podcasts on aquariums and found Talking Reef.
Glad you found us! And yes, if you get "into" the hobby any further, the Boston Reefers can be a wealth of information and a resource that will save you some money in the long run.
The seahorse show was the first Podcast i listend to at this forum. Great show everything i wanted to know. And I could learn it while waiting in line at the bank :-).
The problem in Sweden, were I´m from is that it´s hard to find Seahorses. This is because it´s illegal to import seahorses thats not tank bred. But after some mailing I got this answer from UK:
Dear Daniel
Unfortunately we do not breed barbouri but we do have tank raised Hippocampus reidii in stock. If you speak to our friends at Akvarielagret in Stockholm or Zoogiganten in Malmo they should be able to help you. Zoogiganten are actually having an order from us next week!

Thanks for a great show, forum and for introducing me, Reefbaby.
Welcome Daniel! Glad I could be of some help. I'll tell ya, if you have an opportunity, check out Seahorse.org. There are a LOT of folks from Europe in there, mostly from the UK, and I'm sooo sure that they could point you in the right direction.
Välkommna Daniel (Ahab)!!! So happy to see you here!! Glad you liked the podcast - I knew you would! Dave and Rob have done such a great job here getting information out to people.
Did you happen to ask the guys at Sjöfahrtmuseet where they get their seahorses from?

I am glad to be here on TR
Hi guys!
This was my first podcast that I'd listened to from Talking Reef and it really got me excited about getting my new seahorses this weekend! I've had good luck with them in the past, but unfortunately had a fish in my tank last year that was a bit too aggressive and evidentally a tad on the hungry side....he was dismissed from the tank, and only friendly fish remain, so new seahorses will join us this weekend!
Thanks again for a very insightful, entertaining podcast.
Kristi
Well, I stock my own tank, so I will be collecting Hippocampus erectus. I keep a native tank from Maryland's Coastal Bays, with all components collected locally (live sand, whelk, starfish, various other fish). In order to keep things healthy, I only use native fish that would not be immunocompromised to native disease. I currently only have a blenny, but plan to add a couple more fish this weekend (maybe a puffer - haven't decided if they will be too aggressive or not...). I also think I'll add some pipefish along with the seahorses.
