Question and Comments responses
Got a comment from Scott regarding the show, great comments about the show and i would like to thank him for that.
Here is the question i got this week
Can i use Old Castle instead of Crushed coral for substrate?
Please send in questions, comments, or your show ideas or suggestions to podcast@talkingreef.com
Great job on the PodCasts thus far. I am listening to them during my long commute in to work. This morning i listened to ep10.
I too had issues with shrimps getting my plate corals (and others) food. My solution is to feed them (shrimps) first with the same thing i am giving the coral. When i send the feeding tube in to the shrimp he grabs it and gets him a chunk and is content while my corals eat. Since i started this my shrimps dont even go near my plate anymore.
How is your plate doing?
Also, how long have you had it and how much growth have you seen?
Excuse if you answered this in ep10, I may have been dealing with "driver" issues during my painful drive in this morning!
lol.. no problem.. no i haven't really done any followups to that show..
so far it is doing quite well. very healthy. but i have to say, i haven't seen any noticeable growth.
but that could be because i look at it everyday, and may not have noticed it.
i would have to go back and see if i have any images where i can compare sizes.

I really liked this episode. Since I am new to the hobby, its nice to hear about peoples experiences with their tank. It was good for me to hear becasue it helped me to understand the type of maintenance a reef tank may need. It is eye opening to see what kind of care certain inhabitants may need in order to thrive. I think thats one of the cool things about keeping a reef though, you put a lot into it but its something to be proud of.

How often do you feed your plate? I neglected mine for way too long and have started feeding, but am not really sure how often I should be feeding it... Right now I am slipping it something every couples of days (for the last week or so) but am wondering how often I should really be feeding.
i have corrected the link in the original post
however i have been having some issues with the servers today, so it may or may not work yet. this i am working on

Thanks Rob. The Plate Coral pod cast is the LAST episode that I have to listen to to have caught up on all the old episodes. I'm the guy that has taken a chunk of bandwidth and downloaded all the past episodes. I joined some time early July (maye the 10th?) and I will have finished listening to all the old episodes tonight. I must say, not having a new 1 hour episode to listen to while I'm biking will be missed. Rob, thanks for all the time you put into this project.
