Question and Comments responses
here is a list of the questions i adressed

  • what sort of circulation are we after? Vertical / horizontal, Chaotic ! etc... Also what circulation should we
maintain over the surface of our DSB's

  • I have heard the term SUMP! what is a sump? and do i need one?

  • I?ve got a question relating to Deep Sand Beds to which I?m getting conflicting answers from different people, I know that there?s no one ?right? answer but I?d like to get your point of view on the situation before I decide what to do for my first Marine tank. I?ve been reading the excellent WetWebMedia website that has extensive Marine advice, they advocate Deep Sand Beds of between 4-6? of fine aragonite sand, however I spoke to my LFS and they seem to be against them for a tank of my size (24?x12?x18?). They advocated keeping a patch of calurpa (regularly pruned), maintaining a fine sand substrate of ½? or less and performing regular water changes to keep nitrate levels low.
