Mail order fish

Have any of you had good results purchasing fish online?

If so which sites are reputable?

Thanks!

I've bought online, but find that most catalogs are the same or higher in price than my LFS. Dr. Foster and Smith has been reliable, as have many Ebay stores. Don't expect to save a bundle, but when certain species aren't available locally, or you need to buy a large clean up crew, online stores are convenient.

I've never bought fish online because I like to see the fish I am buying. Of course most online stores come with ea guarantee which none of our LFS offer. Remember to factor in the cost of shipping when considering the price of online fish.

How do they package the fish? When I purchase them locally they only have enough oxygen for a few hours in the bag. How do they package them to live 24 hours or more for shipping. If you are not home when they arrive they will rot at UPS for another day.

In the coral swap that I recently made with Pearson we both had the boxes shipped to our work places. This way you don't miss the carrier and they generally deliver to businesses before individuals. I think that some of the online shippers put pure O2 in their bags and others use breathable bags.

Dr. Foster and Smith have always been good for fish and coral shipping.
