overflow boxes

What size overflows should I get for a 29 gallon, 30x12x18. They are kinda of expensive on Marinedepot.com and I suspect in general they are anyways, so I was hoping to find them on e-bay. I just wasn't sure on the size of them.

one rated at about 600 GPH should do you good, but you will want to take into account the size of your return pump. if you are using a pump that will return more than 600 GPH then you would want to look at a larger overflow

can you pre-drill All-Glass aquariums?

yes, but you have to drill them on the back (or any side) you can not drill the bottom of most of these tanks because the bottom sheet of glass is tempered glass, and will shatter if you attempt to drill it

Also, to follow up on what Rob mentioned, you will need a special bit that you CAN get on Ebay. I drilled 3 holes in the back of my ALL-Glass tank. You just need to take you time when you do it. I also installed internal overflows in my tank that I made from glass. I have detailed much of what I have done in my tank journal here at TR.

FWIW... you can EASILY heat, bend, cut and form acrylic to make coner overflows. The problem still lies in the cutting of tempered glass on the bottom of tanks.

I am not an on the edge person like he was and I only have a 29 gallon hehe. I think I am going with the overflow boxes. I am going to copy your 20L sump plans though. I am kind of slow with mechanical things, but my question is you have a 2 drains that lead into a tee and then split one going to your refugeum and the other to your skimmer. I thought it would be better to go from skimmer to refugeum and into return. I guess that kind of confused me. thanks.
