Skimmers

I ran around to the "pet stores" down here and found only 2 skimmers. One is a ViaAqua Multi-Skimmer with uv sterilzer for $400, the other is Won Brothers 125 for $160. Now, you can usually haggle a little bit with Bahamians, in fact the WonBros skimmer was dropping to $130 by the time I almost at the door. So my question is has anyone ever used these skimmers and if either is anygood. Second, I know there are plenty of DIY plans, but I was wondering if there are any HOT skimmer plans and if they would have enough power for my tank, 38gal FOWLR.

sorry, i have never used either of these, your best bet would be to google them with, or google the names with the word "review" try and see what people are saying about them.

Well from what I have found out both of those skimmers are below average. It looks like I will have to bring one back from the states when I go in Oct. So i need some suggestions, I am looking for a HOT skimmer for a 38 fowlr, I have heard remoras are good and bak-paks, any others?

I would go with the Ramora. I know many happy owners of aquac skimmers.

I would second the AquaC Remora if you can get one. I have also heard good reports on the Coralife skimmers.

I have seen otherwise. To me they are like the modified seaclones. There will be no comparison between the ramora and the coralife.
