I noticed some floating white stuff in my tank.
Looks like ...floating white stuff...my other fish were trying to eat it
I tried grabbing it and it just fell apart.
I looked at my lionfish and it's on it's fins! Like it's shedding or something, which I don't think they do.
Lionfish seems okay, although he has spent some time in the vertical position, but then swims around.
He's hidding quite bit, but seems to be doing fine other than the slimy stuff.
It does look like skin, but not dried...wet floaty white skin.
yups, fw is right, lions occasionally shed. more often when stressed. iif your volitans eyes get hazy, thats an early warning sign that they dont like their home.
hazy is no good. you could either take the chance and leave him in there, hopefully he will get better. your other option is quarentine him in fresh sea water in a seperate tank or container with an airstone. caution when you do this, lions crap alot! if you quarentine him in a seperate tank or container, you must must must do daily water changes.
with your parameters he shouldn't be in that tank.. the cycle conditions are very deadly to fish.. your best bet is as pham411 said, get him out of there, until your tank stabilizes.. it should be ok in a few weeks

Okay here is what I've done, along with the 5 gal water change I did earlier today, I just did a 10 gal water change.
Right after the perams were the same, I'll check again tomorrow morning.
I re-checked my lion's eyes, must have been the lighting...no hazy. WHEW! I think I was just freaking out or something.
i havn't checked the other thread to see if u posted, the problem is just amplified by the number of mouths to feed during your mini cycle. i dont know how mini this cycle is because i havn't seen how u transfered the setup from theirs to yours! but Dilution is the Solution. higher than normal water changes>>>>>>>i should clarify this, doing a 50% water change does not mean u dilute the toxins by 50% consistant smaller changes are the only way to prevent buildup long term!
there are 3 stages to attack this, dilution , assimulation, &________ ive had a few thursday liquid tingles so the last has escaped me! so i should prob quit while im ahead! but be careful moving the FU-Manchu, the spines on the fins are not just for decoration if u didn't already know this!
not bad, just not educated, and thats where we come in..
our goal is to make you successful.. we want you to do good, adn enjoy the hobby and your tank..
we will do our best to help you, just keep in mind that with fish liek that in a tank that is going though the cycle like it is, there is a high chance they will die. i know it sucks, but that is why we recommend waiting to put fish in..
either way thats in the past...
keep changing the water, and keep those levels down as much as possible. it will be a rough ride, adn soem work, but you might get lucky...

Carmie,
He seems to be doing fine...all my other fish are as hyper as the day I brought them home.
He still seemed to be hiding a little today but no stringy white floaty stuff.
I've been trying to keep up with the water changes and monitoring the levels.
It seems as though my bio-load is too much for my tank so unfortuatly I may have to find him a new home.
wait until your tank stablize first, and then you can make a better judgement. just try to keep your water parameter under control for now. any luck on new skimmer?
