Frag tank and maybe a sump?!?

So my 12G nano is still going great. I'd love to upgrade to a bigger tank, but space is limiting me. I also plan on moving to a real house in the next year. Either way, this is not a great time to get my dream tank.

I'm thinking of adding a small frag tank next to my nano. My tank is looking a little packed and I want more room for frags. I have a 150w MH retro fit kit and an extra 12G Aqua-pod hood w/ lights.

Any easy way to add a frag tank to an all in one? My idea requires drilling the nano. I really don't want it bad enough to break the whole tank down for drilling....

Ooh, Ooh, do tell the tale. If it's doable, I'll so add a sump and frag tank to my setup!

Mine was a NC, not an AP, but there should be very little practical difference.

You can see what I did here:

if you have any specific questions, I'll be glad to answer.

Phurst I dont see how you drilled the whole. I would really like to do that with mine. How did you drill with water in it?

Sorry, couldn't recall how much detail was in that thread.

I got the glass bit from a seller on eBay, and the bulkeads from Drs. foster & Smith. I can find the exact bit and bulkheads if it's helpful, but you'll probably want to use larger ones than I did.

As far as drilling the holes themselves, I just used a hand held drill. I kept the bit and glass cool by spraying them down with a plastic spray bottle of RO/DI water. Niether the bit nor the glass ever got warm to the touch.

Probably the most helpful thing of all was the bit i got. It was a regular hole saw, but it had a diamond coated pilot bit as well so the hole saw didn"t skip around on the glass.

If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask.
