Now that's the kinda
skimmer I want on my nano!!
Here is my point of view on
HOB skimmers.
HOB= hang on the back.
When it came time to put a
skimmer on the 12g nano, I did lots of research. I had already bought a Prizm for my other tank and I knew they sucked. After all my research, I came to the conclusion that the AquaC Remora was "the best"
HOB skimmer and most recommended and liked among hobbyist. So I purchased one and I've had it running a few months. I would rate it in the overall scheme of
skimmers as "ok," but prolly "the best" when it comes to
HOB. It works, but I can't adjust it to a level where I can skim max/wet in other words- skimming REALLY GOOD just isn't possible even with the collection cup pushed all the way down. Unlike the Prizm, the AquaC Remora is durable and it works for light skimming. It's pretty much the only option unless I drill the tank.
My point is that if the Remora is an "ok"
skimmer, most of the other
HOB skimmers are worthless. When buying a
HOB skimmer- ignore how many gallons per hour the
skimmer is rated for- it doesn't mean anything. If I ever drill the nano, I will put a EuroReef on it and nothing less
Bubbles- if you have bubbles, it could be something you added to the tank. I used epoxy a while back, and my
skimmer was bubble city for a few days. Other
skimmers are known for always having bubbles.
