Well im calling traditional just a regular tank like you can just go pick up. i want to build a 20g long nano in a regular glass tank and stumbled into nanocubes i no they have benifits Such that:
1)eveythings in one
2)can be cheaper
3)looks cleaner...ect
I was wondering what people thought of there cubes versus a regular glass approach.
I appologize if its unclear im trying to finish before class ends..

well, i started with a 29 gallon glass tank, nothing special, but allowed for easy mods like adding a sump, and any lighting i wanted..
as for the benefits of a nano cube or the likes, i dont have the experience yet, but many here do..

I can't remember what the american nano cube looks like??
all in one unit though, hmmm,, hope they made the saltwater protected hoods and such!
all in one units are funky, albeit cheaper in some cases, as its been mentioned versitility can come from the traditional side more so than the funky. Theres been a surge in nano's over the past few years. Im interested to see how many are alive today.
Study hard Mr Puffin, cause nano's aren't always the picnic they appear to be.
I have a 29 bio cube and works great. I have done some modding to it and am in the process of putting a sump on it... Very hard.. If I had it to do over again I would have got an AGA for sure... Standard lights would work and so on.
I do like the fact that it is closed top and I have if at all any evap and no salt creep!!!! Very nice but i would rather deal with that and not all the problems I have adding stuff.
I have 2 12g nanos one dx and one regular I also have 2 20g tall tanks , the regular which I don't recomend for s/w with out a light upgrade but I do have a small clam some recordia's and a x-mas coral along with a blue damsel and a clown ,they have all done ok but the clam is going into a new 20g reef I'm setting up. The dx nano I am very pleased with and all the corals I have put in it have done fine. I am hoping that I can find someone who has done a light upgrade to there 12g dx and have the old hood sitting around they might want to sell or trade so I can put it on the regular nano so I can put more corals in it. So I guess what I am trying to say is that it really depends on what you want to put in the tanks thats really the disiding factor , of course if your like me and always rush in to my tanks , then you've always got a good reason to start another one.
