Red Sea Coral Pro Test Results

Hey all...

I recently received a small bucket of Coral Pro for testing, and Ca was very high (yay!), but dKH and Mg were pretty low. I did most of these tests twice to confirm my results. Are others getting similar readings?

BTW: Should I leave the lid off when mixing SW (for 24 hours) in order to prop up pH? I am using a Maxijet 600 + mod to stir my SW in a 19g Brute container, but usually keep the lid loosely on to keep any bit of debris and bugs from getting in there.

Initial Temp: 80 F
Initial pH: 81.4
SG: 1.025
Alk (salifert): 7.0 dKH
Alk (elos): 7.0 dKH

Mg (salifert): 810ppm !
Cal (salifert) : 450ppm
Cal (elos): 450ppm

Thanks for any feedback...

I usually mix mine with the lid loosely on too. I have been using Coral Sea Pro since MACNA and I am consistently getting Mg at 1400+ and dKH at 10.

Carmie-

Thanks for the response. Hmm... I will test yet again, and test using another Mg kit. Not sure why the dKH is so low... I am wondering whether the Grey Brute container I mix in is affecting Alk/pH and possibly precipitating mag. I have noticed reddish-grey residue at the bottom of the Brute after mixing RC for a while, but I just assumed it was impurities. I'll mix another 5g of Coral Pro using a designated "food-safe" bucket and see what the results are...

I use a gray Brute too. It has a bit of white precipitate on it but I have never noticed a reddish gray precipitate.
