Ebo Jager heater Q, Submersible??

I just got a 75W Jager heater to replace the no name one I had. The old heater was not stable and the thermostat was always 4-5 degrees F off. When I bought the Jager it said waterproof and submersible. On the heater and in the instructions it says not to submerge above the line (which is just under the temp dial). Can I fully submerge this heater or not? If not, I'm sending it back

It is lawyer talk. All mine are and always have been fully submerged. I prefer Hagen's Fluval Tronic lately as they offer a lifetime replacement warranty, and as it seems that Eheim made some changes and Eheim-Jager is not as good as it was when it was Ebo-Jager.

And the Visitherms makes the same disclaimer.

For the reasons stated above, plus those heaters are encased in glass subject to breaking, I went with a titanum heater.

i would say absolutely not. it may not happen right away, but my experience with them is if you do run them completely submerged they will eventually fail. first thing to go I noticed was the thermostat, then it was just a matter of time before I got a nice little buzz every time I touched the water. i've since replaced all my heaters with the stealths.

AHHH. Too much info too many opinions! This is my third heater. I just want the best for my tank. Who makes the best heater for a 12G nano?? Every time I buy a heater, some one tells me it is junk and to buy a different brand...

I'm sorry Keith! I know, everytime we just want straight answers we get like 50 opinions. But what I meant to say is "absolutely not" submersible! You can use it to that water line, and it'll probably work wonderfully for a long time. I still actually have a 200 W jager in my prop tank; i just didn't submerge it fully so it works well.

the one you bought is actually fine for your 12G nano (I'm assuming it's the JBJ nano cube). you might even have been able to get away with a 50W too. You can run it in the back return pump chamber so it's out of sight and not fully submerged. I think it'll fit.

good luck!!
