Tank Grounding

Just wondering what everyone is doing or not doing with reguards to grounding there tanks. I see several products out there that are essential titanium or stainless probes attached to a lenght of cord that you plug into a standard outlet. It is worth spending the money for one of these ?

I have one in all both of my tanks and even one in the sump of my 120. Certainly won't hurt, and can only help. It's my understanding that lots of pumps, powerheads, heaters etc can generate stray current. it may not be enough to feel, but I'd rather it not be there if possible.

If it's possible to add to the tank, why not? I have read stories of people getting zapped, as well as the stray current causing health problems with the fish.

Uowever, I think mine kept me from getting shocked when I knocked my light into the tank while I had my hands in there.

I believe the issue with these probes is to eliminate "stray" voltage that effect our living critters. I'm not sure it would have any effect against eletrical shock to humans in the case of a dead short. Although, I'm not sure. I'll put my money into GFCs

yep, amps on it, conductivity to talk of!

comes from not properly shielded componentry in the tank or charged particles, now you can ether use a reversed polarity ray gun over the counter bought from men in black retail shop, or a simple ground.

$5 dollars gets you a ground!
