Converting old Freshwater tank to Marine

I have a 44 gal. pentagon corner tank that we used with freshwater tropical fish.

I heard somewhere (I think on one of the podcasts - love them by the way) that if we had used an ick treatment (we probably did) I could have trouble with copper that was absorbed by the silicon sealing the corners. Is there some way to recondition the tank to remove the copper?

In general is it worth converting a freshwater tank to marine? Are there other concerns I should be aware of?

Thanks

from what i have read, its impossible to get out, best bet would be to get a new tank.

agreed.. a new tank is the safest option.

the only way to get the copper out, is to remove the silicone, and reseal the tank. this is not recommended unless you are truley a professional.

the cost of a new tank will me much less than the possible losses you could enfure if you try to use this tank. either loss of life from remaining copper, or the tank breaking if you try to reseal it.

i would get a new tank..

Thanks Rob and gwen_o_lyn for the replies. I guess I'll try to sell the 44 and use the proceeds for supplies.
