Hello Janey - are you sure it's 0.04 and not 0.4? From the picture, it looks like 0.4, which would mean 300ppm...a little low...

i did that in a low res, so 0.4 x 2 = 0.8

ok.. i see the deal.. adn yes, you are reading it wrong..

so your low res test show .40
and .40 = 300

adn if you look at the top of the direction, you multiple the calcium reading by 2, not the dropper reading. so your value is 600

the difference is...
.4 x 2 = .8 = 100 ppm (way low)
.4 = 300 x 2 = 600 ppm (way high)
to avoid the confusion, do a full res test, and this will make more sense

and based on the info provided in your previous thread, we all conclude yours is way high..

see how that works??

let me know if you have further questions

test reading

So the mark 0.4 is really .40 ???
I'm sorry i still don't understand.???/
i thought with the black maker ending at 0.4 at low res.. times that by 2 = 0.8

so u saying 0.4 = and adding a zero at the end giving me 0.40
and that equaling 300 times 2 equals 600

Ron
1.0 is 1.00 and the last reading of 0.1 is 0.10
I just have to add a zero at end right ??/
But what about when it says times 2 , i times the calculated results .
like u said 300 times 2 = 600

darn why so high ? i'm not adding anything to it. (tank) i did another water change yesrtday. 3 gal

yes..
.1 = .10.. which actaully equals .1000000000
the amout of zeros after the 1doesnt mater when dealing with numbers (not hobby related, its jsut how the base10 numbering system works..

so yes, the .4 is the same as .40

adn for the multiply by 2 things...
you need to multiply the results times 2, not your reading on the dropper..

you you dont do .40 x 2 =.80
you do .40 = 300 x 2 = 600
