Mixing Salt..

Rob,
I use 1 gallon tupperware jugs with lids to mix my salt. I heat about 2 cups of RO/DI water in the microwave. From there I add my salt & start to mix it. I find that it dissolves it quicker. Then I add the rest of my RO/DI water which cools down the heated water alot. So it's not too hot when I add to my tank. From there I check the salinity. Is there any adverse affects adding the salt in hot water?

Thx,
John

there shoudl not be, as long as you cool it properly, and make sure the salinity is correct before you actually add it.

addidn salt to heated water is a great idea, the heated water actaully does cause the salt to disolve faster, but i haev found that with the IO salt i use, it disolve very well, with room tep water, so i have not had the need for this.

thanks for the followup, i will mention this on the next show.
