Using a Brita water filter instead of an RO/DI System

I was wondering if anyone knew how pure a brita will get water and is it clean enough to use instead of store bought RO/DI water?

Welcome to TR.com first off

Im not sure how pure it is but when i was setting up my tank i used at least 50% of water out a foset brita. and when i went to messure the levels i could messure cal or alk. calcium was showing up as not present and so was alk. so i drained the tank and tried it again. the same way. well i got the same results. the third time filling the tank i used RO water and everything was fine. im not 100% sure that was the reason but its kinda funny how it worked out. so i havnt used the brita for my tank since..

brita filters dont even compare to a RO/DI filter.
if its truly your "only" options its better than straight from the tap.

you should look into a RO/DI filter, or getting RO or distilled water from the grocery store

west, thats a strange statement coming from u...lol your like the apprentice of the sith lord rob!

domestic filters aren't quite efficent enough to trap even all the heavy elements, so thats a negative ghost rider!
fish only ok, but definately not for the reef setting! you'll end up with problems sooner rather than later!
