filatelico,

That is a bit low but lots better than my initial 850. You might want to get some Magnesium and begin dosing to bump it up a little higher like pham mentioned.

Pham,

1200 is a tad low. You might want to do the same.

You know guys, both of your Magnesium levels are real close. We could be splitting hairs here talking about trying to maintain 1250 or 1300. I don't know. What I do know is it took 3/4 of a gallon of Magnesium to get my 135 gal from 850 to 1250. I'm going to continue dosing and measuring to maintain 1250 or 1300ppm because of the dramatic difference I see in my corals and clams. Plus, now I'm finding it easy to keep my Ca between 450 and 500. I'm dosing less 2 part in the process. Both of you might consider giving Ocean's Blend additives a try. I've been very satisfied with the results over four or five years. Remember, I've been doing saltwater tanks exclusively since 1974. I've used every 2 part on the market because I'm not interested in buying a calc reactor. Ocean's Blend works best IMHO.

Hope this helped.

Dick

look u guys, Mg is a pretty complex topic to explain, it is nice to fully to understand it, but in saying that, not everyone is to become a chemist junkie like myself...lol

think of it like this, your the butler! your carrying a tray, u have Ca, alk, & Ph on the tray about to serve your corals! U have placed the Ca .alk, & the Ph on the tray in such a way as to even the weight across the tray.they all stabilse each other.

now think of the tray being your Mg, just there to make sure u get as much Ca to your destination without losing any! so its important, but if u lose/spill some along the way no real biggie! u can make it up next time. what ever your Ca level is...> X it by three to get the ideal Mg level. so if u want to reach natral Mg levels as found in sea water, which the boys are correct in saying its 1300. so in theroy your Ca should be 433.3* but with a 450Ca u can stay at 1300, or bump it up to 1350Mg. yadda yadda. but the safe level is 300points in the negtive dirrection & 100points in the positive dirrection before u really need to become overly concerned.

and i forgot to ask>>>>how do u guys like my tank thickness guide? lol

filatelico Sorry for Hijacking your thread but I must defend my statment so here goes.

I understand her life style works for her, but it doesn't work for the millions of little girls that watch her on TV. I have 2 young girls 10 and 11 and I understand that it’s my job to raise them and not Paris or the TV's.

Luckily for me my girls look to there mother as a role model, 35, RN and responsible for a entire floor of nurses at a local hospital.

How many of you would be proud of your child if she acted the way Paris does? If she acted this way in your current financial situation how would you really feel? I think money changes people it changes their morals, goals, and what they think they can get away with.

Now as a grown adult male, I can look at Paris and her TV show and know she is getting away with these things because of who she is. I can also understand that if I did the same the outcome would be much different. I also understand the show edit the show to tell the store they want to tell. I don't think the children can see that and that’s why mine aren’t allowed to watch TV shows like that.

Now to loose all credibility I may have just built up to defend my statement. Nicky Hilton is way hotter anyways.
