so what do you think would be the best way to get away from my penguin hob filter and go to sump? i am pretty sure that drilling this tank is not an option due to money and time constraints so what would be your best suggestion? also best suggestion on skimmer?

I'm buying a Koralia 3 from you! I need 2 of them but I can only afford one bc I only have 1 50$ giftcard haha.

    Merry Christmas!
  5. Hey Jim, Thanks for the BD wish! Somewhere along here can’t I begin going backwards???

I haven’t read your thread, sorry. The best/easiest way to get me to do it is to post a link to it here. then I have no excuse. Please do so.

    Dick,

It was hard to pass up a deal like that.

Suffice to say... I'm going to post quite a few "for sale' threads to sell off the rest.

    Jim

    p.s.

Did you get a chance to read my tank thread yet ?

    p.s.s.

    Have a Happy B-Day !
  7. It’s pretty hard for me to make judgement call on that lot of goods. My feelings are that schedule 80 valves and fittings are over kill on our marine aquariums because there is little pressure that we deal with due to the open nature of our systems. I see the auction is closed. Did you buy them?

    Hey Dick,

I've been checking out ebay for deals on schedule 80 bulkheads, ball valves, etc.
What do you think about this ?

    Greetings Dick,

I thoroughly enjoyed your talk on plumbing on TRL episode 16. I have a thread in TR under Gimmito's L-shaped 450 gal. I had a few questions regarding plumbing if you don't mind. I have four 1 1/2" drains going into my 100 gallon sump. I plan on using 2 reeflo dart golds for returns (for redundancy).

    1) The inlet and outlet are both 1 1/2", do you recommend going with 2" pipe for the inlet ?
    2) I was planning to use schedule 80 for the unions, ball valves, and bulkheads...should I just go with schedule 80 throughout or is it overkill ?
    3) Do you recommend using 2 part primer/glue ? I usually use the 2 part for schedule 40 pipe.
4)Should I use swing check valves going from the garage to the living room ? It's about 12' difference...or should I just dril holes into the returns ?
    5) Is there a difference in schedule 80 brands (eg. George Fischer) ?

    Many thanks,

    Jim

Hi Dick. Just passing through. It was unusual for there to be no updates in your journal thread since the last time I was here!

Launching into this Bloggo thingie, uncharted waters. An update on Amp’s 135 build

It’s been said, by smarter people than me, “Change is the only constant in this world”. Not sure who said it and I don’t care. Change can be painful. It can lead one into uncharted waters, where danger lurks around every reef formation. Change can also be good for us. It can make us stretch ourselves in directions never before imagined. At my age, stretching can hurt. So here goes... A new direction of stretch for me.

My 135 mixed reef thread has had 38,337 visits and
