ah missed this one too (been away a bit).... typically it shouldnt make a difference unless you have a contaminant algae. You do run the risk of some other algae or bacteria taking hold prior to your culture arriving and being added but this is not hard to avoid by examining the culture water prior to adding the algae.

When firing off a new shelf or species I'll typically run culture medium (water and fertilizer) for a week ahead of time to make sure no contaminates will take hold, I will then examine a sample from each vessel and see what I can find. If the vessels have a contaminate algae I go on a hunt for it's source or move the culture rig. It's a handy quick procedure that seems to help a lot down the road.

Hello JRC, I have a quick question, I have made up 2 qts of culture water for my Tetraselmis (when it arrives) it's been bubbling for 2 days now to get it as close to room temp as possible. I've already added the micro-gro, do you think it bubbling and being in front of the lights has had an adverse effect on the quality of the culture?
