Mark,

When I got my BTA it was the size of a bagel and is now bigger than a dinner plate.

Dana,

I also feed my corals regularly.

ahh id love one because..i mean who doesnt love the sight of clowns in an anemone?!?! maybe i would have to somehow magically get my mom to let me get a clow anemone tank and a seahorse tank.

back to reality though, how come some i have seen look so ugly..does that happen to you? like my uncles looked all deflated with short tenticles...does that happen to you and is it momentary?

Yes, mine deflates almost entirely when it is purging. It is shriveled up and looks like a lump of goop! Then a little while later it is full and beautiful again.

Thanks Paul. I started with that much LR and then added a bunch of dead coral heads that I had from when I kept FO back in the 80's. The coral heads probably only weighed 10-12 kg but they doubled the percieved volume of rock in my tank.

Circulation is a bit of a challange. I have my return and a powerhead crossing at the top near the center of the tank. Then I have another powerhead about 1/2 way down the wall mounted on the same side as the return and blowing into/through/around the aquascape.

Well, obviously nothing that gets too big and I ruled out anthias because they really like a longer tank.

My brother got this sun coral head with a tank he was buying to upgrade his system. They skeleton was covered in debris and the old owner said it was dead but Keith, my brother, washed it off and stuck it in his tank just because.

Once the rock was in my brother's tank these 2 polyps popped out. It is amazing what water quality can do. Anyhow he had it for a few weeks and then bought a big head of sun coral. He was sending me some frags and on a whim sent these two to me. They eat like pigs and I'm hoping will bud some new polyps soon.

You have to keep feeding them well, otherwise the polyps will shut down during daytime.

They tend to stay out a lot. They always open up in the evening anticipating feeding time.

I am giving them a couple of big mysis shrimp or clumps of fish mush every night. Should I be feeding them more than this?

CarmieJo, I love your tank. Because of you I purchased a 54 Corner and joined TalkingReef. When I have a few minutes I will start my own thread to describe my ups and down of my first salt tank.

New Solaris LED Light

I added a new Solaris LED light today! I have temporarily moved my tank while we are having new flooring installed and so the aquascape is a mess. But I still wanted to add a picture to my tank journal.

Solaris advises to start a 50% intensity and gradually increase so it will be a couple of weeks until I am at full strength. I can't wait to get my tank back in the living room and get the rockwork in place so I can see the whole effect. Stay tuned for more!
