im not the current expert on fuge's but maybe a quick shout out in the logical question department, if water i the fuge has a somewhat slower flow rate than the rest of the sump, is it wise to place a heater in there in regards to hot spots being generated?

oh, i was going connect the uv to my overflow box, vertically....but that may be overkill....might have to just get a separate pump for it

You really should have the heater in an area closer to the return pump...or so I've heard. I do that myself. Yes, in a refugium, the heater will read the local temp and once the fuge is warmed, will shut off and start up with small temp changes. This could also burn out the heater.

In an area closer to the return pump, the heater is registering heated water from the entire system as it is dumped into the return chamber and warming it to send back to the display.

i put one in the fuge area and one in the display....the reason i didn't put it by the return pump is because the waer in the area seems warmer from the pump itself

on another note, added 2 scarlett crabs....ack!....and a handful of snails

i can't remember the snails names...they stick their "noses/tubes" out of the sand and when you feed they come out....anyone?

how did u go with the piping for the UV, the units i have come across, they work both ways, vertical & horz. but horizontal negates more head loss in most regards with the return pump.

a quick update....parameters have held staeady......i moved my clowns & firefish into the tank...everyone looks good & happy:-)

i was having a heat issue.....it has been in the 70's here and my tank had creeped up 84.....so, i started to freak......i had the cover of the fuge kinda propped on, so i removed that.....put the legs on the lights.....that didn't work either.....turned on the central air.....didn't dent it.....it was still going up

last night went to the store and got clip on fans.....well, it started dropping like crazy (that scared me too), had to put the fan on low and plug my heaters back in....it hit 80 and held staedy all night

bought 3 of thse fans in case of another emergency...turns out i only needed the one

another issue i am having....there is a film on my fuge water....it is moving through at 400gph....so....i haven't figured out what to do about that

fixed the problem of the film in my fuge....i raised the skimmer ran two tubes from the output on the skimmer into that area.....that it created enough ripple to fix that problem

the jawfish is too funny....i gave him a pile a cc and you woulda thought is was x-mas.....i'm thinkin' if i gave him a trowel & some mortar, he could build me a stone wall in my backyard

here is my latest addition...it is more of a neon green & pink, than in the pic shows..(please ignore my HA...it is improving...ack!)
